Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actress and singer whose acting varied performances earned her the acclaim of fans in various genres from period drama to action thrillers and thrillers. Johansson is the daughter and wife of an architect and a producer was brought up within New York City. Her twin brother Hunter were the smallest of the four siblings. From a young age she discovered an aptitude in acting. She started auditioning for commercials when she was seven. She enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after that and was enrolled in the Professional Children's School, Manhattan for further training. She made her debut as an actor in the film North (1994) when she was the age of nine. She was just eight when she starred alongside Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson subsequently appeared in Just Cause (1995) but her first breakthrough came with Manny & Lo (1996) a coming-of-age film about abandoned sisters who escape. In The Horse Whisperer, Johansson as a teen victim of a tragic accident. In Ghost World, 2001 as the outcast teen Rebecca earned her more recognition.
